Lisa is an experienced advocate, with a wide breadth of experience and a deep commitment to her clients. After practising for over 20 years at one of Canada’s leading national law firms, she started her own legal practice. This provides Lisa with the opportunity to pursue the cases that matter most to her clients. It also allows Lisa to provide the highest calibre of legal services, while delivering more value to her clients.

Lisa has represented a diverse array of corporate clients, in civil actions and in arbitrations, across a wide range of commercial legal disputes. Lisa’s clients include multinational corporations, Schedule I Canadian Banks, insurance companies, investment brokerages, and individuals.

Lisa has defended hundreds of physicians and other regulated professionals in civil actions, disciplinary proceedings, human rights claims, and hospital privileges matters. She possesses an in-depth understanding of both strategy and law. Equally important, Lisa has a deep understanding of the attendant pressures placed on regulated professionals. She combines highly effective advocacy with a commitment to minimizing her client’s stress.

For almost 20 years, Lisa has represented Universities in a wide range of legal disputes. She has prosecuted complicated academic and non-academic discipline matters, successfully defended Universities before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, provided advice and counsel in complex commercial disputes, and appeared on behalf of Universities in the Ontario Divisional Court. Lisa is a member of the Canadian Association of University Solicitors and frequently presents on a wide variety of topics to individual Universities and at the annual CAUS Conference.

Lisa is an experienced advocate in the often complex area of administrative proceedings. She has appeared as counsel before many Administrative Tribunals, including the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Hospital Boards, the Ontario College of Pharmacists, the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, University Administrative Tribunals, and Arbitration Panels. She has also appeared as counsel at the Ontario Divisional Court on Judicial Review Applications from Administrative Tribunal decisions.

Lisa also provides General Counsel services to a number of her clients. This has provided a unique opportunity for her to become embedded in her clients’ businesses by providing a range of legal services, on either a fixed fee or hourly fee basis. Lisa assists her clients with specific mandates, such as providing second opinion advice or helping her clients obtain the best value from external legal providers. Lisa can also provide ongoing regular oversight of internal legal issues, thereby reducing the need for and expense associated with most external legal counsel.
